DescriptionThis short rectangular huipil was probably made for ceremonial occasions such as processions or fiestas. It is made of yellow, red, and purple cotton stripes, typical of the ceremonial huipiles in San Juan Sacatepéquez, and the birds brocaded on the front are done in silk. The brown stripes may be natural cuyascate cotton. Also on display in this gallery is another huipil with a more elegant iteration of this same design.
