DescriptionThe Lenca people lived in eastern El Salvador and central-western Honduras and were independent of the Maya city-states around them. They lived in advanced chiefdoms and traded with many cultural groups from Mesoamerica. Large spouted jars such as this one have been found to contain the residue of a frothy chocolate drink used in feasts and ceremonies. This chocolate vessel is decorated with a human head.On View
