DescriptionFlowers was Warhol's first purely decorative subject. Approaching it much as he did his portraits, Warhol selected a stylized pattern and high key, contrasting palette that transformed a hibiscus flower print from a Kodak ad into a highly identifiable, abstracted design. Warhol would repeat this imagery over and over via the screen printing process, differentiating the pictures only by color and the number of repetitions. This allowed him to achieve the desired repetition, multiplicity, and anonymity of commercial advertising,- Art of North America
