    DescriptionThe sloping roof, thatch, and dimensions of a traditional Maya house can be seen in this rectangular architectural example of a Maya tobacco flask. This mold-made example is decorated with serpent masks on both sides, perhaps as an indication that the mind altering state conveyed from tobacco ingestion facilitated communion with powerful ancestors, often portrayed as serpents in Maya art.
