DescriptionChancay weaving is famous for its quality and quantity. It has been known to use as many as seventeen different colors. Designs ranged from intricate woven patterns to plain gauzes embroidered or painted with serial imagery of birds, felines, fish or geometric motifs. Applied metal discs of either silver or gold and brightly colored feathers were also used to add pattern to their finely woven textiles. This cane and grass weaver's basket was found complete with 4 balls of thread, 18 spindles with whorls, 4 spindles without whorls, 3 loose whorls, 2 woven bags, and 3 weaving batons.- Art of the Ancient Americas
