DescriptionThis little painting sharply contrasts a smartly dressed, briskly striding woman with a derelict man slumping aimlessly in a doorway. While the artist refrains from specific social commentary, he succinctly reveals Manhattan as a city of vast contradictions, one peopled by both the "haves" and the "have-nots." Even when painting a sad subject, Marsh's art always exemplifies the positive, dynamic side of the city.
