DescriptionGertrude Stein was an American writer and art collector who befriended and supported many of the most important artists of her day. With deadpan humor Grooms has portrayed Stein, whose androgynous appearance was famously painted by Picasso in 1906, sitting in a chintz-covered overstuffed chair. She more closely resembles a kindly, but artless grandmother, than a sophisticated art patron. These lithographs can be cut-out, folded-up, and assembled as a 3-D tableau.
