DescriptionTall tripod vases such as this one were often made to hold liquid offerings placed in the tomb or burial of a wealthy person. This vase is decorated with painted images of rulers dressed in an elaborate feather headdress. The top and bottom borders contain large bats with supernatural characteristics, perhaps an indication that the individuals are inside a cave or the Underworld. The colors of this vase indicate it fits within the Ulua-Yojoa polychrome tradition. On View
