DescriptionThe cult of the Raingod, Tlaloc, was introduced to the Maya during the Classic period. The god also occurs in Teotihuacan art (1-700) and can be identified by its large "goggle" eyes and convoluted upper lip. As the guardian of water, Tlaloc often appeared in the guise of a serpent.
